Ways to Get Involved with Groundswell This Spring
In Asheville, North Carolina, the location of our US coordination office, spring is upon us. The days are getting longer, the chill is beginning to drop out of the air, and trees are starting to show soft, green blooms. Warm weather aside, we are excited about the coming of spring because it marks the kickoff season for our Annual Spring Seed Campaign, hosted in collaboration with Buchi Kombucha and Sow True Seed. The arrival of spring also means that there are new opportunities to get involved with Groundswell and support healthy farming and food from the ground up.
Spring 2016 Opportunities
Vote for which seed variety you would like to see for our Annual Spring Seed Campaign. The mission of the campaign is to raise awareness about the importance of seed sovereignty and to provide seed funding for new Groundswell initiatives. Now in its fourth year, the campaign has spread thousands of healthy seeds across the United States to encourage people to grow their own food and get more involved in the issues facing family farmers, including seed sovereignty. Click here to vote. Voting ends on Tuesday, April 5th*.
New Volunteer Opportunity: Join us on Saturday, May 21st in Columbus, North Carolina for a day of community action! Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome. We will be installing edible landscapes, planting summer crops, and managing youth activities. A local food lunch and t-shirt will be provided for all participants. To learn more about what to expect, check out what we accomplished during our permablitz last year. Volunteer registration will close May 1st, so sign up today!
Raise Funds for Groundswell with our new fundraising tool: This spring, we are specifically raising funds for Grow Food Where People Live, our program in Western North Carolina. Sign up to be a volunteer fundraiser or make a donation to the campaign. A generous supporter has agreed to match every donation dollar-for-dollar so the impact of your gift will be doubled.
If you have any questions, please contact Cristina at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to partnering with you this spring!
*At this time, seeds are only available to US residents.
