Groundswell International celebrates 10 years with a global conference at the University of Vermont.
Groundswell gathered with staff, partner organizations from 10 countries around the world, and Board representatives for our Global Conference from Oct. 15-19. We did so in collaboration with the University of Vermont’s Agroecology and Livelihoods Collaborative (UVM/ALC). We shared key strategies across our program partners related to strengthening agroecology focusing on farmer-to-farmer innovation; women’s empowerment; nutrition; local markets; and climate resilience.
On October 18th, we opened up the conversation with a wider audience of allies, philanthropists and members of the UVM academic community, called “Building Collaboration to Amplify Agroecology.” Groundswell partners shared key insights and program strategies with attendees, and the UVM/ALC team did a tremendous job of facilitating a dynamic conversation to identify inspirations for deeper collaboration.
On our final day, we wrapped up with learning visits to local farmers (including ‘new Americans’), farmer cooperative enterprises and a food hub, visiting Intervale Center and Pine Island Community farms. We memorialized our celebration with dinner, drink, and dance at Bread and Butter Farm.
It was a tremendous week of deepening our learning, connections, and re-commitment to expanding our work, as to building our collaboration with our friends and allies at UVM/ALC. Adelante!
