Soil to Sky of Agroecology vs. Industrial Agriculture

Soil to Sky of Agroecology vs. Industrial Agriculture (2013) is an infographic developed by Nourishing the Planet, a project of the Worldwatch Institute. The Nourishing the Planet project assesses the state of agricultural innovations—from cropping methods to irrigation technology to agricultural policy—with an emphasis on sustainability, diversity, and ecosystem health, in addition to productivity. This infographic uses images to illustrate the effects industrial agriculture has on the earth, from the soil to the sky, and compares it to the effects that agroecology has the same environments. By contrasting the current high-input industrial system to the vision of an agroecological system, Nourishing the Planet hopes to change the fact that 1 billion people in the world are hungry and one-third of the food produced in the world is wasted. In order to feed everyone in the world and not completely deplete our resources, we need to change the type of agriculture we’re using.
